The story of L&M Motors dates back to 1950 when Ludwig Dreyer (my father) began his training as mechanic in his home country of Germany. In 1956 Ludwig moved his family from Germany to Canada where he worked for Mercedes Benz of North America.
After living in Canada for 4 years, Ludwig decided to leave the cold Canadian climate for the warmer weather of California, to pursue his dream of starting his own business. After working for Mercedes Benz of Hollywood for one year that dream became a reality. In 1961, Ludwig and his fellow mechanic from Vancouver (Manfred – the “M” in “L&M”) opened up L&M Motors.
The shop has now been open for over 50 years and hardly a thing has changed, but we see that as a good thing. We love being a small, family-run business that builds relationships with our customers (and in some cases their children and grandchildren!). My father prides himself on honesty and integrity, and this shows not only in the shop’s longevity.
